The Happy Times (2013-2015)
The concept of happiness and well being of the people is a continuous concern in contemporary society like Singapore. A recent Gallup polls reported by CNN, “Are Singaporeans Least Happy ”, revealed Singaporeans to be much less happy than the Iraqis or Afghans. Based on observations on social condition in Singapore through different media platforms, The Happy Times is established to collect various information that indicates the future and the way of life in Singapore; and looks into the sociopolitical situation of Singapore; as well as the general well-being and state of mind of Singaporeans.
Drawing references of on the ground studies in Thailand and Hong Kong, The Happy Times is a series of fictional writings speculating the distant fate of Singapore. Through the articles, the sociopolitical situation, environment as well as the well-being of the country and people are revealed. Which in turn questions the state of Singapore at present; are we making the right choices? How does these choices affect Singapore in future? How will Singaporeans react to these changes?
