Strategy for Tragedy (2016)
Strategy for Tragedy is a site specific durational happening that unfolds an ongoing query, and calls for the creation of plausible future vocabularies that can trigger future auspicable scenarios. The performance merges tragedy, Brechtian theatre and the Internet, appropriates the space and attempts to break the hierarchy between public and performer through the contractual performance of critique. Performed as a quasi-political theater, the piece embraces the contingent element that characterizes a casual conversation, yet touching upon matters such as non-location; Western logic of the glo-partheid in relation to contemporary art; poetry and science fiction.
The entire creation of this work was done in collaboration with Giulia Crispiani and Sonia Kazovsky for the Performance Biennal: No Future, and performed on the ferry en route from Athens to Kythira, on July 1st, 2016.
